Smart Dog

A well to do old lady had the opportunity to go on safari to Africa, but she knew she could not live away from home for that long with out her beloved Dachshund, so the dog went too.

One day the dog was out for a walk, and started chasing a butterfly. Before he knew it, the Dachshund had gotten itself lost.

Just as the dog came upon a pile of bones, it saw a very large Leopard bearing down on him. Knowing that he was on the menu, the Dachshund thought to himself quickly, and laid down with his back to the Leopard and started chewing on the bones.

Just as the Leopard was about to pounce on the Dachshund, the dog said, "Man, that was one tasty Leopard.'

The Leopard froze in mid leap, and decided it had better look for something else to eat.

Watching the entire episode unfold, was a monkey sitting in a nearby tree. Knowing that the dog would be gone soon, and he would be back on the Leopards menu, the monkey decided to tell the Leopard what he had seen.

As the monkey jumped down from the tree and ran after the Leopard, the Dachshund knew something was amiss, and followed the monkey.

When the monkey caught up to the Leopard, he told Him the entire story. The Leopard became furious, and told the monkey to get on his back, and they would go set this dog straight.
The Dachshund, seeing this, ran back to the pile of bones and thought to himself, "What am I going to do now?"

Again the dog lay down at the bones, with his back towards the Leopard with the monkey on its back.

Just as the Leopard was about to attack, the Dachshund said,

"Where is that darn monkey? I sent him off half an hour ago to bring me another Leopard."


moral:
don't get between a dog and his bone, if you have a monkey on your back!
