Creative Services for CD-ROM Access. This background task gets installed by the Windows 9x/ME drivers of some Creative SoundBlaster soundcards. It also sometimes gets installed, in error, on Windows 2000/XP by non-driver related Creative software suites, such as Creative Jukebox, etc..

Recommendation:

With modern CD-ROM drives (36-speed and above) this task is of no use to any system, so we recommend you disable it in MSConfig and let Windows handle everything to do with your CD-ROM drive. If you have just upgraded from Win9x/ME to Windows 2000/XP, this task (converted to a service during the upgrade) will give you endless error messages. Disable it by setting it to Manual in "Control Panel \ Administrative Tools \ Services" – even better still, remove that service.
