Event Logs

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

Event Viewer is a component of Microsoft's Windows NT line of operating systems that lets administrators and users view the event logs on a local or remote machine. With Windows Vista, the event system was overhauled and renamed to Windows Event Log.

The event logs provide a valuable information resource to determine what may have been happening (or still happening). Runtime as well as boot up errors may be found in the logs.
