Disabling System Restore for Windows XP

1.Click the Start button
2.Right-click on My Computer, and then select Properties
3.On the System Restore tab, check Turn off System Restore or Turn off System Restore on all drives
4.Click Apply
5.When you disable system restore your computer will delete all existing restore points. Click Yes to do this
6.Click OK to disable system restore
7.Proceed with what you need to do. For example, removing viruses

Enabling System Restore for Windows XP

1.Restart the computer if it has not been restarted since System Restore was turned off
2.Click the Start button
3.Right-click on My Computer, and then select Properties
4.On the System Restore tab, uncheck Turn off System Restore or Turn off System Restore on all drives.
5.Click Apply

 

For Windows XP the System Restore data is located in the "C:\System Volume Information" folder.
