Disabling System Restore for Windows XP
| 2. | Right-click on My Computer, and then select Properties |
| 3. | On the System Restore tab, check Turn off System Restore or Turn off System Restore on all drives |
| 5. | When you disable system restore your computer will delete all existing restore points. Click Yes to do this |
| 6. | Click OK to disable system restore |
| 7. | Proceed with what you need to do. For example, removing viruses |

Enabling System Restore for Windows XP
| 1. | Restart the computer if it has not been restarted since System Restore was turned off |
| 3. | Right-click on My Computer, and then select Properties |
| 4. | On the System Restore tab, uncheck Turn off System Restore or Turn off System Restore on all drives. |
|
For Windows XP the System Restore data is located in the "C:\System Volume Information" folder.
