Depending on how extensive the planned maintenance is, it may be a good idea to set the system up where it is comfortable to work with.
These preparation items are only a suggestion. These items may be implemented on an as needed basis as the maintenance and troubleshooting is performed.
Note: If data recovery or virus infection are the purpose of the visit, it is usually best to get those issues resolved prior to adding anything to the computer.
| • | Create a user account with Administrator rights. |
| • | Change the desktop resolution to something that you are comfortable with. |
| • | Change the file browsing settings to include hidden files etc. |
| • | Create shares to allow access from other computers via a network. |
| • | Install favorite utility programs. |
| • | Disable System Restore. |
| • | Boot into SafeMode |
