Maintenance Prep

Depending on how extensive the planned maintenance is, it may be a good idea to set the system up where it is comfortable to work with.

 

These preparation items are only a suggestion. These items may be implemented on an as needed basis as the maintenance and troubleshooting is performed.

 

Note: If data recovery or virus infection are the purpose of the visit, it is usually best to get those issues resolved prior to adding anything to the computer.

 

Create a user account with Administrator rights.
Change the desktop resolution to something that you are comfortable with.
Change the file browsing settings to include hidden files etc.
Create shares to allow access from other computers via a network.
Install favorite utility programs.
Disable System Restore.
Boot into SafeMode
