Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

WinME Defrag will work with Windows95 and Windows98 if you do the following:

Steps_25

To install WinME defrag on Win 9x systems:

1.Open C:\Windows folder.
2.Right-click on Defrag.exe and rename it to Defrag_Old.exe.
3.Unzip WinME_Defrag.exe to C:\Windows folder.
4.In the C:\Windows folder rename WinME_Defrag.exe to Defrag.exe.
5.You are now ready to use Defrag as you normally would.
6.You should notice the new Defrag will be much quicker.

If you experience any problems go to the C:\Windows folder and delete the new Defrag.exe and rename Defrag_Old.exe back to Defrag.exe.

Note_25

Note: If you don't see the EXE extension in the filename, that means you have extensions hidden for some common file types. You can make all file extensions visible by going to Start > Settings > Folder Options > View tab > about 7 lines down, uncheck 'Hide file extensions for known file types', and click OK.
