Carrie and Cherie Strack

I did not know Carrie well while I was in high school but was very fortunate to have her as a neighbor as adults. About 4 years ago I was taking my children trick-or-treating in our neighborhood. We came to a house that was all decorated with Halloween paraphernalia, spooky music playing etc. and in the front sitting in a lawn chair was Carrie and her husband, Lane. They where both really enjoying all the little tricker treaters in their costumes. I recognized Lane first, as he lived in my subdivision when we where younger. Carrie was handing out candy to my children and you could just tell by the look on Carrie's face how much she enjoyed Halloween and seeing all the kids. Carrie had decided that the candy she had given the children wasn't enough so she went inside, took the children with her and came out with all kinds of candy and goodies for the kids. Carrie really enjoyed seeing all the children at Halloween and she really seemed to enjoy their company even when the children where being children and asking her what seemed like a 1000 questions. After that first year it was a ritual that the children insisted on going to Carrie's at Halloween and every year she would always give the children something extra and then invite them in to sit and chit-chat. My children and I always looked for ward to visiting with Carrie.
Halloween was a very sad time after Carrie's passing, (and still is for my children) but, I'm sure, Carrie knows that we are all thinking of her and miss her very gentle, kind and always smiling personality. Sheri Farmer-Kelly
