I met Alicia when we were in elementary school. We had several classes together over the years and times together that turned into touching memories. I always considered Alicia a cohort. She always seemed to be there when I needed someone. When a certain person threatened to beat me up in 7th grade, I remember Alicia coming to my rescue and convincing this person that she did not want to bother me. In 9th grade, there were two girls that liked to just follow me around and bother me; Alicia intervened here too. She had the ability to diffuse situations with a light-hearted touch. Somehow Alicia convinced me to run for student council in 9th grade and became my "campaign manager". We did not win, but that is not to reflect on her abilities as a campaign manager, but more so on my abilities as a politician. I never told her how much I appreciated her support and belief in me. It changed me and gave me a confidence I had not experienced before. I am saddened by the fact that Alicia is no longer with us. I'm sure she was a devoted friend to many people during her lifetime. To her family, know that she touched lives while she was here. She definitely touched mine. Rhonda Kelley
